Pet of the Week

The logo for the friends of kat simons foundation is a silhouette of a cat and butterflies.

"Goose "

While Goose is not yet available for adoption, the Richmond SPCA is seeking a foster home for him while he completes chemotherapy. The ideal foster will be an adult who does not have other pets or kids at home.

Goose was surrendered to the Richmond SPCA in January, and our veterinarian did surgery to remove a mass which the biopsy revealed to be cancerous. Goose began chemo in March, and he had his second of six treatments earlier this month. Between treatments, it would be ideal for this good boy to have a temporary foster rather than be in the shelter.

He's available for foster placement right away, and viewers who are interested can email fostercare@richmondspca.org with their availability.

Goose is young, only 2 years old. He's a smart boy who loves to cuddle, enjoys walks and is easy on leash.

"Scroop"

Scroop is a beautiful 4-year-old cat. The staff all say she's a fantastic lady, and from the greeting I've received in her room, I can see why. She's very outgoing and makes friends fast. She had some symptoms of anxiety in a prior home when living with other animals and we think she'd be happiest as an only pet.

Frida

She is a sweet, clever and energetic dog who would love to go home with someone who works from home and enjoys going on adventures with their four-legged companion. She has completed two training classes: Canine Manners and Advanced Canine Manners. Continuing positive reinforcement training will be important after adoption, and our trainers will meet with potential adopters to ensure a smooth transition to a new home

Johny

Johny is an 8-year-old cat who will be joining me this morning. He's an absolute lovebug who begs for belly rubs. Though he's a senior, his labs reflect that he's a healthy boy.

Briton

Briton is a 12-year-old dog who has some significant senior health concerns. His former owners took him to a local vet office to request end-of-life care; however, the staff there determined that his medical conditions, while chronic, were not terminal.

Thanks to our Cinderella Fund, the Richmond SPCA agreed to bring him into our care to begin treating his needs, which include dermatitis (skin issues), disc disease, arthritis and mass removal. Despite his age, Briton is quite spunky and incredibly affectionate. He's previously lived with other animals - both cats and dogs.
